Two villains have previously used the name Iron Mask. The first at the end of the 19th century (Ed Lacerton) and several decades later, the kingpin Dan Vittorio.
Mike Martin was a scientist who made what we know today as a 'dirty bomb' and threatened to destroy Sterling City if he was not paid a ransom.
Major Blast and his sidekick, Rocky Thunder (Captain Flash and Ricky), managed to find and defuse the bomb in extremis.
Iron Mask apparently fell and died before he could be stopped.
But his body was never found ...
