HISTORY

July, 1942. 

Flyboy was Davey Nelson, the son of an expert pilot and an excellent young flyer himself. After becoming an orphan, Davey was raised in a monastery in Capistrano, California. He became friends with a well respected Franciscan monk named Brother Francis Martier. David helped to inspire Martier in designing a precision aircraft, hoping it would be his contribution to the world. Martier worked obsessively, and secured a loan in order to create a prototype aircraft. However, Martier was killed while test-flying it, because its fuel lines had been sabotaged. Davy swore to rebuild the craft, and he did. Doning a uniform, Davey soon named himself Flyboy and his new plane 'Birdie'. He helped the Allies during World War II, and soon earned the respect of enemy fliers.

He joined the Battle Squadron and the Fighting Force, and became good friends with Skywolf. 

POWERS & WEAPONS

Flyboy's plane, Birdie, was equiped with dual machine guns, its wheels could grasp other aircraft, and it could be controlled by a voice activated remote control, under Davey's lapel. It was able to home in on Flyboy and may have had some limited degree of artifical intelligence. Flyboy himself was an innovative mechanic and an ace fighter pilot. He was also a skilled fighter.

HISTORY

December, 1940. 

John Perry worked for the Daily Clarion as a gossip columnist and in his spare time he wrote crime articles. To get more direct information, Perry decided to disguise himself and go out to investigate as Black Fury. John adopted Chuck Manley, the son of a murdered cop, who eventually became his superhero assistant, Blackie the Teenager Fury.

HISTORY 

Corporal Allen Ray Hornet was chosen as a test subject in another of the United States Government's special defense programs. A new steroid gave him increased strength (although it also increased his natural aggressiveness). He was promoted to Captain and assigned as the President's bodyguard, but shortly after, the United States was immersed in World War II and President Roosevelt decided that Hornet would be more useful on the front lines and after a new promotion (to major), he was assigned his own division (FLAG - Foreign Land Action Group) and a new uniform. The Man o' FLAG joined the Battle Squadron, the sub-group called The Fighting Force. He was active both on the home front, foiling enemy sabotage missions, and in the South Pacific fighting Imperial Japanese forces. 

POWERS & WEAPONS 

The Man o' FLAG was an exceptional fighter, with guns, with the knife or with his bare hands. The experimental steroid injected into him increased his strength and resistance to physical harm to a superhuman level. It also increased his aggressiveness, which sometimes caused him more than one problem... FLAG had Uncle Sam's best equipment, such as a hybrid tank-coupe that served as a personal transport for major Hornet.

 May, 1940. Carl 'Tech' Carson, an inventor and adventurer, created a three-cartridge rocket pack. He then also created one for his assistant and fiancée, Pat Dale. Together, they fought crime and the Nazis as Jet-Man and his sidekick, the Jet-Doll. Their enemies included Killer Craci, the Purple Peril or Mr. Death. Carl and Patricia formed part of the Fighting Force and the Battle Squadron. Soon before the end of WWII the couple got married.

HISTORY 

February, 1940. 

Kalkor was to become high priest of Isis in Ancient Egypt, but a priestess named Nagana, later known as the Queen of Evil, wanted him to renounce her vows and rule Thebes by her side. Kalkor resisted the temptation and remained faithful to Isis. He faced Nagana, which caused the destruction of the temple and the city, and Nagana was turned into a statue. 

3,000 years later, Nagana was found by archaeologists and revived. To combat the Queen of Evil, Isis brought her faithful servant Kalkor back to life. Kalkor adopted the civilian appearance of John Perry to go unnoticed.

HISTORY

Victor Roberts was orphaned when his parents were murdered by a criminal. For the next few years he was under the protection of Gaia, the personification of the planet Earth, who taught him to control the elements and the creatures of nature. 

The goddess then returned him to the world in the hope that he would become a force for good and an inspiration to all other mortals.

Gaia gave him control over water, wind, fire, earth, and the creatures that inhabit them. She also gave him superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and resistance to physical damage. As Victor calls out the name of the goddess, he morphs into Captain Wonder, Champion of Gaia. 

It is to be noted that while Victor Roberts' body ages at a normal rate, the Captain's body appears to be immune to the passage of time.

HISTORY

Lou Robertson was an all-around athlete, which made him the perfect raw material for becoming a crime fighter. Lou decided to adopt a patriotic costume and US Jones was born. He eventually became a government-sponsored Secret Service agent, changing his alias to GI Jones. Only the agent named Grumbler knew his secret identity. During World War II, GI Jones was part of the Fighting Force and the Battle Squadron.
