HISTORY 

Richard Cole was born in 1923. When he was only a month old, his parents, who were secret agents, handed him over to Professor Blair and later disappeared forever. Blair had been researching a new way to raise a boy to become "a perfect specimen of manhood" and this was the perfect opportunity to put his theories into practice. Over the next few years, Professor Blair combined biochemical treatments with subliminal conditioning to boost Dick's physical and mental development. As a result, the boy learned to walk when he was six months old and to talk when he was one year old. He breezed through elementary school, graduating from junior high school at age 10 and high school at 12, earning highest honors along the way. For the next five years, Professor Blair and the boy traveled all over the world. Dick learned several languages ​​and all kinds of skills during that journey. To help Dick appreciate American values, Professor Blair took the boy to totalitarian countries. When he turned 17, Professor Blair made his young protégé swear that he would not use his abilities for selfish or malevolent ends. Later, he enrolled Dick in Farr Military Academy. From then on, Dick tried his best to lead the life of an average military cadet, but often ended up in situations where he had to use his abilities to stop criminals, foreign spies, and other threats. It didn't take long for him to meet other "special individuals" like himself, the Crime Smashers, whom he would join under the alias of "the Wonder". Inexorably, December 1941 arrived. The United States entered the war and Dick joined the Battle Squadron to fight against the Axis Powers that threatened to conquer the entire world.

Thanks to the unique upbringing and chemical compounds he received from Professor Blair, Dick Cole was stronger, faster, and more agile than the average human being. Although he could be injured, he was more resilient than a normal human being and also healed much faster. Mentally he was also above average, being able to gather and process information more quickly and efficiently. For example, Dick was able to learn to pole vault just by watching the track team do it.

At the start of World War II, Jane Martin was a daring nurse for the International Red Cross. Over time, as international tensions and war progressed, she became a pilot and a spy. Jane was always willing to venture into dangerous territory to help save American soldiers, earning her a decoration for rescuing two airmen from the wreckage of a downed Douglas Bomber. In the act in which the medal was imposed, she met Drake Stevens (aka Air Man) and both fell in love instantly. Jane became Drake's partner and, thanks to artificial wings designed by her lover, into Air Woman. Both were part of the Crime Smashers and the Battle Squadron.

Jane was a skilled nurse, an ace pilot, a fierce and resourceful fighter, and a proficient handler of firearms (although she rarely did). She knew how to remain calm and collected in extremely dangerous situations and had a knack for getting herself into trouble. HISTORY 

During the 1930s, Derry Bronson, a young Canadian who had been confined to a wheelchair by polio, began to dream of being a great crime-fighting hero. 

Thanks to the newspapers he knew that his dreams were reality, and that every time he fell asleep he was not only capable of walking again, but also of the most incredible feats. 

Derry met a boy, Nemo McCay, who also possessed sleep-related powers and took him in as his sidekick. Their career as mystery men was very long and fruitful. They were members of the Crime Smashers and Battle Squadron.

Basically, when Derry fell asleep, he was able to manifest an idealized, enhanced version of himself, the Doc Dreamer. This materialized dream version of his persona was physically perfect, the greatest athlete, with the sharpest senses and total control over his body. Doc Dreamer also carried a pair of pistols that didn't need to be reloaded and didn't kill but put those hit by his bullets to sleep peacefully.

Hyram Speed was a police detective who was ambushed by gangsters, but was saved by a homeless German Shepherd. Hy adopted the animal and named it Rang-A-Tang. Rang turned out to be a brave, loyal and very talented dog, with practically human intelligence, the perfect partner in the fight against crime. 

And when the law wasn't enough, Speed donned a mask and became the Blue Ghost. The Blue Ghost was a member of the Liberty Guards and the Battle Squadron, always accompanied by the faithful Rang-A-Tang, the Wonder Dog.

HISTORY 

Jeremiah Steele was an American air ace who fought for his country during World War II as part of the Tuskegee Airmen Squadron. In one of his missions he transported Ginger Dare, a member of the V-Group*, to the occupied territories, being captured. He was tortured and confined in a prison camp. During an escape, Steele heroically drew enemy fire so his teammates could escape. The Nazis dumped his lifeless body outside the prison camp. Hours later Jeremiah was brought back to life by Father Duroc, the mysterious leader of the V-Group. For three months, Duroc treated the young pilot through an experimental procedure, until Jeremiah made a full recovery. Not only that, the treatment also gave him greater physical and mental power than other men have. Father Duroc urged Steele to become something bigger than a soldier or a pilot and thus the figure of V-Man, the Man of Victory, was born. From the forests of southern France, V-Man became a symbol of the fight for freedom. Ginger Dare became his adventure partner and his lover. 

In addition to the V-Group, The Man of Victory was also a member of the Battle Squadron. At the end of the war, Jeremiah returned to the United States were he transformed a gang of troublemakers from Brooklyn into his V-Boys, creating the voluntary organization known as the V-Boys Defense Corps.

Father Duroc's treatment increased all of Steele's abilities to superhuman levels (strength, stamina, speed, reflexes, senses, toughness, and healing factor). HISTORY 

Dr. Jackson, Harry's father, created an American champion, the artificial man named Yankee Doodle Jones. Harry became the Dandy and together the two joined the Outlaws, the Battle Squadron or the Crime Smashers. They fought against the Nazis in WWII, against crime and supervillains on the streets of Dynamic City and shared many more adventures. Much later, Harry received the death touch of the Black Hand and Yankee Doodle Jones, seeing the life of his protégé in danger, sacrificed himself so that Harry could live.

Harry's consciousness was transferred to Yankee Doodle Jones' android body. Paradoxically, doing so Harry became virtually immortal. Yankee Doodle Jones' mind also survived, in his case as a disembodied cyber-entity still giving advice to Harry. After a period of adaptation to his new body, Harry resumed his heroic career under the Liberty Man alias, helping found and fund the Young Heroes Alliance, establishing his base of operations at the Liberty Foundation Headquarters in Dynamic City.

Liberty Man dated Danni Miller, daughter of cartoonist detective Pen Miller, and niece of Danny (Djinni) Miller (and heir to the Magic Ring).

Sir Brian was a valiant knight of King Arthur's court who wore an armor and a sword both enchanted by Merlin, the Druid. When the Saxons were driven out and the Pax Arthuriana prevailed, he met his strength against evil knights, warlocks, and monsters like the Barghest. Sir Brian chased Black Barton, a diabolical wizard, through a time vortex that led him to the 1930s where he joined other heroes to form The Outlaws. When Sir Brian returned to Camelot (in the past) he found that Lady Tarna had married another knight and, feeling that was no longer his place, he returned to the 20th century, where he was part of the Battle Squadron. There he would meet his future wife, Susan Page, aka Flame-Girl.

HISTORY

Flyboy was Davey Nelson, the son of an expert pilot and an excellent young flyer himself. After becoming an orphan, Davey was raised in a monastery in Capistrano, California. He became friends with a well respected Franciscan monk named Brother Francis Martier. David helped to inspire Martier in designing a precision aircraft, hoping it would be his contribution to the world. Martier worked obsessively, and secured a loan in order to create a prototype aircraft. However, Martier was killed while test-flying it, because its fuel lines had been sabotaged. Davy swore to rebuild the craft, and he did. Doning a uniform, Davey soon named himself Flyboy and his new plane 'Birdie'. He helped the Allies during World War II, and soon earned the respect of enemy fliers.

He joined the Battle Squadron and the Fighting Force, and became good friends with Skywolf. 

POWERS & WEAPONS

Flyboy's plane, Birdie, was equiped with dual machine guns, its wheels could grasp other aircraft, and it could be controlled by a voice activated remote control, under Davey's lapel. It was able to home in on Flyboy and may have had some limited degree of artifical intelligence. Flyboy himself was an innovative mechanic and an ace fighter pilot. He was also a skilled fighter.

Bartholomew Kudasiewizc (Barry Kuda for short) was an adventurer from the United States, eventually becoming the champion of the underwater kingdom of Mermea, protecting it from both its hostile neighbors and incursions by people from the surface. He and his young friend Algernon "Algie" Kelp were draggeded into a whirlpool and swept to Mermea, where they underwent special treatment that gave them the ability to survive in the deep sea. Barry married Queen Merma and Algie, initially wishing to return to the United States, changed his mind when he met Maureen, Queen Mermea's protégé. During World War II, Barry joined the Battle Squadrton to stop the Axis powers. After the final victory, he returned to Mermea.

1939, May. 

Douglas Danville was a wealthy playboy who decided to fight crime, first under the secret identity of the Knight Unknown, but soon changed his M.O. to Black Owl. When WWII began, Danville bequeathed the Black Owl cape to his good friend Walt Walters. Walters' wife had been murdered a few years earlier and Walt strove to raise his children, twins Patrick and Richard, as true American paragons. When his father became the Black Owl, the children became his young sidekicks, assuming the identities of Yank and Rebel. The trio enlisted the help of Rufus Worthy, the family's loyal black butler, and Inspector Foley of the Prize City Police Departmemt. Unfortunately, Walt Walters was seriously injured in a shooting and died. Douglas Danville returned from the front line to take care of the children and eventually took up the mantle of the Black Owl. Sometime later, Danville met Doris Parker, the vigilante nicknamed Scarlet Sable, first as rivals and then as allies. Doris and Douglas eventually married and had a daughter, Belle, who would end up becoming the Harpy. The third Black Owl, Nick Terry, was an FBI agent disenchanted with the system. A young reporter, Belle Wayne, became his sidekick, adopting the secret identity of Miss Owl. 

The latest incarnation of the Black Owl is the librarian Jack Martin. Jack and his father created a flight-capable Black Owl suit to get revenge on a mobster for mutilate Jack's father.

Kendall Richards was a mystery writer who collaborated with the police, earning the hatred of mob leader Rusty Blade. Blade ordered his removal, forcing Richards to fake his own death. Taking advantage of the fact that criminals are no longer looking for him, Richards decided to assume the masked identity of The Bogeyman to settle the score with Blade's gang and bring them to justice.

The Boy Soldiers were a team of young men from around the world who served under the command of Captain of the United States Army, John Grayson (also known as Captain Commando), during World War II, fighting against the Axis powers.

The Boy Soldiers consisted of Billy (Captain Grayson's son) and his friends Flatbush (from the United States), Gerald Sykes (from England), Erik Jansen (from Norway) and Armand De Latour (from France). 

None of them (including Captain Grayson) possessed superhuman abilities, but they were all brave and fierce fighters.
