HISTORY 

Richard Cole was born in 1923. When he was only a month old, his parents, who were secret agents, handed him over to Professor Blair and later disappeared forever. Blair had been researching a new way to raise a boy to become "a perfect specimen of manhood" and this was the perfect opportunity to put his theories into practice. Over the next few years, Professor Blair combined biochemical treatments with subliminal conditioning to boost Dick's physical and mental development. As a result, the boy learned to walk when he was six months old and to talk when he was one year old. He breezed through elementary school, graduating from junior high school at age 10 and high school at 12, earning highest honors along the way. For the next five years, Professor Blair and the boy traveled all over the world. Dick learned several languages ​​and all kinds of skills during that journey. To help Dick appreciate American values, Professor Blair took the boy to totalitarian countries. When he turned 17, Professor Blair made his young protégé swear that he would not use his abilities for selfish or malevolent ends. Later, he enrolled Dick in Farr Military Academy. From then on, Dick tried his best to lead the life of an average military cadet, but often ended up in situations where he had to use his abilities to stop criminals, foreign spies, and other threats. It didn't take long for him to meet other "special individuals" like himself, the Crime Smashers, whom he would join under the alias of "the Wonder". Inexorably, December 1941 arrived. The United States entered the war and Dick joined the Battle Squadron to fight against the Axis Powers that threatened to conquer the entire world.

Thanks to the unique upbringing and chemical compounds he received from Professor Blair, Dick Cole was stronger, faster, and more agile than the average human being. Although he could be injured, he was more resilient than a normal human being and also healed much faster. Mentally he was also above average, being able to gather and process information more quickly and efficiently. For example, Dick was able to learn to pole vault just by watching the track team do it.

HISTORY 

January, 1940. 

At the start of World War II, Jane Martin was a daring nurse for the International Red Cross. Over time, as international tensions and war progressed, she became a pilot and a spy. Jane was always willing to venture into dangerous territory to help save American soldiers, earning her a decoration for rescuing two airmen from the wreckage of a downed Douglas Bomber. In the act in which the medal was imposed, she met Drake Stevens (aka Air Man) and both fell in love instantly. Jane became Drake's partner and, thanks to artificial wings designed by her lover, into Air Woman. Both were part of the Crime Smashers and the Battle Squadron.

Jane was a skilled nurse, an ace pilot, a fierce and resourceful fighter, and a proficient handler of firearms (although she rarely did). She knew how to remain calm and collected in extremely dangerous situations and had a knack for getting herself into trouble. HISTORY 

During the 1930s, Derry Bronson, a young Canadian who had been confined to a wheelchair by polio, began to dream of being a great crime-fighting hero. 

Thanks to the newspapers he knew that his dreams were reality, and that every time he fell asleep he was not only capable of walking again, but also of the most incredible feats. 

Derry met a boy, Nemo McCay, who also possessed sleep-related powers and took him in as his sidekick. Their career as mystery men was very long and fruitful. They were members of the Crime Smashers and Battle Squadron. 

POWERS & WEAPONS 

Basically, when Derry fell asleep, he was able to manifest an idealized, enhanced version of himself, the Doc Dreamer. This materialized dream version of his persona was physically perfect, the greatest athlete, with the sharpest senses and total control over his body. Doc Dreamer also carried a pair of pistols that didn't need to be reloaded and didn't kill but put those hit by his bullets to sleep peacefully.

HISTORY 

Patrick Walters is the twin brother of Richard Walters, and together they were known as the Fighting Twins. The kids were the sidekicks of the second Black Owl, their own father, Walt Walters. 

Mr. Walters was injured in action and died, and the twins continued their career alongside the original Black Owl, Doug Danville. Unlike his brother Dick, Rick never strayed too far from the Owl's Nest. Unfortunately, Doug Danville's career as vigilante had earned him too many enemies and he was ultimately killed. Belle, Danville's daughter, under the nickname of The Harpy, almost killed her father's assassin but was stoped by Rick and the two together brought the criminal to justice. Belle became Rick's companion in adventures, as well as a sentimental partner (despite the age difference between them). The two of them were part of the Crime Smashers. 

Rick slightly altered his uniform and his nom de guerre as he got older, changing his name to the Yankee Eagle.

He had no powers, but he was as strong and acrobatic as his brother and also had all the resources of the Owl's Nest. Unlike his brother Dick, Rick aged normally, although he always remained in exceptional physical shape, despite his age.

HISTORY 

Richard 'Dick' Walters is the twin brother of Patrick 'Rick' Walters, and together they were known as the Fighting Twins, sidekicks of the second Black Owl, his father, Walt Walters. HISTORY 

Dr. Jackson, Harry's father, created an American champion, the artificial man named Yankee Doodle Jones. Harry became the Dandy and together the two joined the Outlaws, the Battle Squadron or the Crime Smashers. They fought against the Nazis in WWII, against crime and supervillains on the streets of Dynamic City and shared many more adventures. Much later, Harry received the death touch of the Black Hand and Yankee Doodle Jones, seeing the life of his protégé in danger, sacrificed himself so that Harry could live.

Harry's consciousness was transferred to Yankee Doodle Jones' android body. Paradoxically, doing so Harry became virtually immortal. Yankee Doodle Jones' mind also survived, in his case as a disembodied cyber-entity still giving advice to Harry. After a period of adaptation to his new body, Harry resumed his heroic career under the Liberty Man alias, helping found and fund the Young Heroes Alliance, establishing his base of operations at the Liberty Foundation Headquarters in Dynamic City.

Liberty Man dated Danni Miller, daughter of cartoonist detective Pen Miller, and niece of Danny (Djinni) Miller (and heir to the Magic Ring).

Professor Claude Stevens, a renowned ornithologist and engineer, was senselessly murdered. His son Drake was outraged and received no justice from the police. So Drake put together a costume consisting of a pair of Gravitex wings and some gadgets and went hunting for criminals.

Cosmium is a rare extra-terrestial gravity-repelling metal which is reduced to a substance called Gravitex. Gravitex made Drake's wings lighter than air. He also used a gun in several adventures.

1939, May. 

Douglas Danville was a wealthy playboy who decided to fight crime, first under the secret identity of the Knight Unknown, but soon changed his M.O. to Black Owl. When WWII began, Danville bequeathed the Black Owl cape to his good friend Walt Walters. Walters' wife had been murdered a few years earlier and Walt strove to raise his children, twins Patrick and Richard, as true American paragons. When his father became the Black Owl, the children became his young sidekicks, assuming the identities of Yank and Rebel. The trio enlisted the help of Rufus Worthy, the family's loyal black butler, and Inspector Foley of the Prize City Police Departmemt. Unfortunately, Walt Walters was seriously injured in a shooting and died. Douglas Danville returned from the front line to take care of the children and eventually took up the mantle of the Black Owl. Sometime later, Danville met Doris Parker, the vigilante nicknamed Scarlet Sable, first as rivals and then as allies. Doris and Douglas eventually married and had a daughter, Belle, who would end up becoming the Harpy. The third Black Owl, Nick Terry, was an FBI agent disenchanted with the system. A young reporter, Belle Wayne, became his sidekick, adopting the secret identity of Miss Owl. 

The latest incarnation of the Black Owl is the librarian Jack Martin. Jack and his father created a flight-capable Black Owl suit to get revenge on a mobster for mutilate Jack's father.

HISTORY 

August, 1947. 

Lucille Martin, an adventurous novelist, was returning by boat from a vacation in China when she met an elegant Chinese maiden named Lotus who was on her way to San Francisco. Her master tasked Lotus with delivering a valuable jade idol to a Chinatown address and she asked Lucille to keep it for her as she feared it would be stolen. 

In case there were problems, Lucille was to deliver the package. 

The woman also gave her a ring in the shape of a blue bird (the Qingniao Ring) which is said to grant its wearer the ability to "see things no one else can see, and do things no one else can." The maid was soon killed and thrown overboard by thugs looking for the idol. Failing to find Lotus, Lucille visited her room and, finding it disordered, she hid the idol for the rest of the trip. Back in the United States, while she was in her room, she began to examine the Qingniao Ring, but she was overwhelmed by a mysterious wave of well-being and lost consciousness. Upon waking up, she felt so sure and confident of accomplishing her mission that she dressed up in a costume and presented herself at the appointed address in Chinatown, and after a successful confrontation with some thugs, the jade idol was finally delivered to its recipient. That was the origin of the Blue Bird. Then came the Crime Smashers, World War II, and the Battle Squadron.

The Qingniao Ring has the power to stimulate the pleasure centers of the brain of the people around its wearer, producing a feeling of great well-being. The user (Lucille in this case) perceives that power as an incredible boost in her own confidence, her senses sharpen and she becomes more aware of everything around her. By concentrating, she was able to magnify these vibrations, causing extreme arousal, euphoria, or intoxication in one or more of the beings around her.

HISTORY

Bulldog was actually Denny Dunsan. When Denny was just a boy, his parents fell victim to a monstrous being created by Dr. Sheldon "Shelley" Freestone. Denny was crippled during that same attack. Dr. Freestone regretful and horrified by the actions of his creature, felt it was his duty to raise Denny and use all of his scientific knowledge to make the boy walk again. After a long and complicated biochemical treatment, Denny not only successfully regained mobility, but far exceeded the capabilities of the best Olympic athletes. Upon reaching adulthood, Denny made a self-imposed decision to either capture the monster or eliminate it. By ironies of fate, It was not Dunsan who ended the monster's rampages, but the union of other masked heroes, who would end up being the founders of the Crime Smashers.

HISTORY

In the early 1940s, while working in his research laboratory, Professor John Dickering discovered a gas that had 50 times the energy potential of hydrogen.

Inspired by the exploits of other costumed heroes, Professor Dickering designs a super powerful costume fueled by this gas and adopts the superhero identity of Comet Man to fight crime. His girlfriend, reporter Thelma Gordon, covers the adventures of Comet Man, making him one of the most popular heroes of his day.

Sadly, his career as a masked hero came to an end when he was killed while trying to save the life of his brother Robert. To avenge the death of his brother, Bob Dickering became the second Comet Man.

Danny was a bright young lad who was given a ring by a mysterious man. Every time he rubbed the ring he summoned a Genie that appeared as if by magic. The secret name of the Djinni is Qareen which means 'companion'. Together they solved many mysteries and were members of the group of heroes called the Crime Smashers. 

And when President Roosevelt decided to form a unit of all heroes with special abilities to fight the Axis forces during World War II, Danny and his magical companion also joined the great coalition of American heroes, the Battle Squadron. 

Much later, the ring and the genius were inherited by Danny's niece, daughter of his cousin Pen (the cartoonist detective), the young Danni Miller. Danni met Harry Jackson, the Liberty Man (formerly known as the Dandy and ex-comrade of her uncle Danny), and the two began dating.

HISTORY 

January, 1940. 

Dash Dartwell was a college athlete at Dravrah University (Centaur City). His biochemistry professor, Dr. Drew Moss, gave him the Metabo-serum, which gave him superhuman speed and recovery. At first the serum only had a temporary effect, but eventually it became permanent. Dr Moss made sure the Metabo-serum only worked with Dash. So anyone who wanted to appropriate the formula would be very disappointed. At first, Dash used the powers of the Metabo-serum to win an inter-university competition against Elay University, breaking four world records at the same time. That's when the press dubbed him the Human Meteor, a name he later used when he decided to use his new abilities to fight crime. Dash married Dr. Moss daughter, Bettie. 

In October 1956, Simon Binder, a taxi driver suffered a serious accident as a result of which he received a blood transfusion from Dash Dartwell. Binder and Dartwell shared a rare blood group (0-), the key to the transmission of Dash's powers, and thus, Simon became a second Human Meteor.

Jack Vale was chosen for his courage and unwavering willpower to be the bearer of The Eye of Khor, a jewel of power in a magical ring. Following in the footsteps of his ancestor Robert Vale, Jack dedicated himself to fighting crime as the vigilante Black Diamond. Jack had been in a relationship with a super villain twice, first with Lenore Franklin (aka Killer Plant) and then, in his maturity, with Bettie O'Hare, aka Miss Bunny. The second one reformed herself and became his wife.

The Eye of Khor gave Jack the ability to create anything his imagination was capable of conceiving. The ring also gave him super strength, invulnerability, super senses, the ability to heal others, fly, and some other abilities, always depending on Jack's willpower.

HISTORY 

June, 1939. 

Vance "Van" Crawford was a carefree wealthy heir, a world expert in hobbies of all kinds. One day, while playing golf, he witnessed a UFO crash very close to where he was. 

Van did not hesitate to approach the ship and inside it found a dying techno-organic creature. While trying to help the being, the alien came into physical contact with Van. 

The creature spoke a few words in its unintelligible tongue, then its form liquefied into a dark fluid that washed into Van. Vance woke up in his bed a few hours later thinking that maybe it had just been a bad dream brought on by indigestion. 

However, Van discovered that he was able to "manifest" a strange suit, and that when he did, he gained extraordinary powers that he did not quite understand or master. 

The latter did not dissuade him from using them, moreover, Van became a superhero. 

The United States Government put a "childminder" on him in the form of costumed agent "Major Glory" (Charlie Wilson). 

Shortly after World War II began, Van and Charlie joined the Battle Squadron. After the final victory, Van joined the Crime Smashers and Charlie was assigned to a new mission. 

POWERS & WEAPONS 

Van was a round guy, albeit tremendously agile for his weight and bulk. He was not a good fighter, and he was somewhat clumsy, but no one could beat him in will and courage. When he was in the form of Captain Saucer Man, Van was able to fly faster than sound, fire force bolts, deflect bullets, survive in the vacuum of space or the seafloor, and was also able to communicate telepathically. It is possible that the uniform-symbiote possessed more powers, but it is unknown.

HISTORY 

Charles "Chip" Foster was the heavyweight champion contender in 1940. Bill Banks, a gangster, offered him $2,000 in exchange for being knocked out in the title fight, but Chip, ignoring the offer, beat his opponent and was crowned world heavyweight champion. 

His father, Dr. Maximilian Foster was a scientist working on an invention that would help win the coming war: a device capable of shrinking people to the size of insects. Chip volunteered as an experimental subject to test the machine, shrinking to the size of a fly. The strain of the change left him unconscious but stable. However, just then, gangsters led by Banks burst into the lab looking for Chip. Not finding him, they killed the old man and set fire to the lab. 

The fire woke Chip, who managed to escape, albeit horribly disfigured by the flames. 

Fortunately, the young Foster, despite being the size of a fly, had maintained his original strength, so swearing to avenge his father, he took a uniform that his father had designed for him and calling himself "The Fly", he set out to hunt down Banks and his minions. Since then, Chip has dedicated his life to fighting crime in honor of his father. 

The Fly was a member of the Crime Smashers and also the Battle Squadron.

Charles Foster was a physical wonder, a true heavyweight champion. But Chip was much more than just a bunch of muscles, Chip had also inherited his father's intellect and was a brilliant scientist himself. The shrinking machine compressed most of his body mass, making him tiny, but tremendously strong and resistant. His Fly suit, designed by his father, was amazing. The fabric was flame retardant and highly resistant to damage. It included a cape that could become rigid in free fall, acting like a paraglider. But the most important thing is that Dr. Maximilian Foster had hidden the key to reverting to normal human size in Chip's uniform.

HISTORY 

The incredible gymnast Belle Danville would go crazy to the point of dressing up as the Harpy and going out in search of revenge for the death of her father, Doug Danville, aka the Black Owl. 

After a life dedicated to fighting crime, Danville had ended up being murdered not by a super criminal, but by unscrupulous and greedy business associate. 

Belle's vigilante rage had to be quelled by Rick Walters, alias the Yankee Eagle, her father's former sidekick. Rick stopped her from killing her father's murderers and helped her bring them to justice. 

Both continued working together and in the end, despite the age difference, they fell in love.

As the Harpy, Belle used metal claws similar to the ones her mother (Scarlet Sable) used to use. She also wore a uniform similar to her father's, with a special cape that acted somewhat like a paraglider. She was an Olympic-level gymnast, extremely agile and strong, and had also received combat training since childhood from her parents. In addition to her claws, her gauntlets could shot needles loaded with a powerful narcotic.

HISTORY 

May, 1940. 

American scholar John Stern became the unwitting heir to the sorcerer Avince, after helping his spirit take revenge on Milo, the rival sorcerer who murdered him. Stern decided to use his new knowledge to fight against the chaotic forces that haunt humanity, becoming a mystery man, whom the world would know as the Master Mystic. 

The Master Mystic had a tower, the Keep, in Nepal the top of the world, whose entrance was in the former mansion of the sorcerer Avince on the outskirts of Pelican Bay. The Master Mystic joined with other mystery men of his time to form the Crime Smashers. He has also been part of the Battle Squadron during World War II.

POWERS & WEAPONS 

Master Mystic was able to travel between the material plane and the astral plane at will, being able to transcend both space and time itself. Furthermore, he was able to move unseen through the physical plane, he could levitate, communicate telepathically, subdue demonic creatures, turn into mist, materialize things out of thin air, and emit powerful mystical rays capable of dissolving the most resistant materials. These were just some of his abilities, since thanks to Avince's library and occult objects collection, John Stern had a mystical arsenal that was very difficult to quantify.
